Working Remotely

One of the challenges we face is the geographically distance between us. Tobias lives in Berlin and Daniel lives in Basel. Regardless of the distance, we decided to give it a try! A few factors that make it easy to work together is the proximity of our cities via air travel and a variety of great tools we use in our workflow. Take a look at some of the products we use on a daily basis:

Most importantly for us is to communicate as much as possible. That’s why we use Slack,  and we use it a lot! If you don’t know it by now, it’s a simple messaging app where you communicate in channels or directly. It’s available on desktop and mobile. Try it out, it’s great.

We also like to have an organized overview of all our tasks and Todos. To handle this we create countless lists on Trello, which gives us the freedom to arrange our lists, as we need them and gives a great overview of all our projects.

Sometimes you need to talk directly and have face time. That’s where comes into play. It’s a free browser based video conference app which seriously couldn’t be easer to use. We also utilize it for video conferences with our clients.

To be sure that we don’t mix up our files and have access to all resources all the time we use Dropbox. Beside the main cloud storage service of dropbox, there are some great extensions that have made it into our workflow. Like Dropbox Paperwhich we use for Storyboards and to collect all our notes on specific Projects. Or AMB-1, a simple tool to create mood boards with images saved into a dedicated Dropbox Folder.

And of course we also meet on a regularly basis. To work on this site and on our first prolog project, we transformed this beautiful house in the swiss alps to our office for one week.
